How to create smokey eyes?

Uols tgk title pun dah boleh agak kan? In this entry, RedBerry will share with ya on how to create smokey eyes. Kita try yg basic dulu. Takyah nak susah kan diri yg dramatic look ke apa. I must admit that this is the most difficult task in face art. Kalau silap gaya, mmg mata akan nampak cam lebam dek kena penumbuk. But dun worry, practise makes perfect! But how to practise, if we dun even know how to create smokey eyes? Kaler apa ek yg sesuai, camna nak mix colours ek? ek ek ek ek?? :P

Actually, smokey eyes ni byk cara dia. Steps tu boleh berubah2 depends on what kind smokey eyes do we want? Pix kat atas nih, contoh smokey eyes yg diajar dlm makeup class Eisya Rahman. In my previous entry on arabic makeup, indian makeup and goth look.... sumer tuh smokey eyes. Apa yg uols pasan, persamaan antara makeup nih? Yes! black eyeliner, thick mascara and the dark combo eyeshadow. It is not necessarily all BLACK. Boring! Tapi kita boleh try even with kaler PINK for the smokey eyes, cuma kena mix with darker colors. For sure, black eyeliners and mascara jgn lupa. Penting! :)

Pix kat atas nih, after balik from makeup class tuh. As usual before basuh muka, snap photos dulu. Eye makeup nih mmg tebal and it's for nite makeup. Dlm gambar tak nampak sgt, tapi kat luar, for me mmg tebal. Jom kita tgk camna nak create smokey eyes - basic smokey eyes ye... nak buat yg basic ni pun bukan senang nak lepas tau! In my next entry nanti, RedBerry try buat on my own eyes, apa yg RedBerry share in this entry. RedBerry pun nak practice habes2 buat smokey eyes nih. Remember: Practise makes purrrfect! *chuckle*

8 STEPS to create smokey eyes

STEP #1: Eyeshadow base

Biasa kita trus apply jer eyeshadow kan? Actually cara yg betul ialah uols kena apply an eyeshadow base dulu tau. Why? Coz it helps the eyeliner and eyeshadow stay in place and not smudge / smear. So apply eyeshadow base or kita panggey jugak as eye primer kat seluruh kelopak mata.

RedBerry sendiri pun belum beli lid primer nih. Tapi yg RedBerry tgh usha2 skang, it's either Benefit Stay Don't Stray or Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer. But most prolly i would go for the former one - being bias i guess coz RedBerry tgh giler kat barang2 Benefit! *chuckle*

p/s: RedBerry nak kasik tips skit. kalau nak dapat flawless makeup esp for dinner makeup, uols kena apply eye concealer and powder kat tepi and bawah mata. Bukan apa tau, kalau kita ada dark cirle takde la nampak nanti. RedBerry recommend Bobbi Brown eye concealer, kecik dan senang nak bawak ke mana2.  

STEP #2 : Light base color

Using an eyeshadow brush, apply a second lighter color eyeshadow to ur eyelids. Try not to go pass ur crease (brow bone if u dont have a crease). Don't forget to apply it to ur bottom lash line.

STEP #3 : Darker base color

Using the same of different eyeshadow brush, apply a darker shade to the outer corner of ur eyes. Don't forget to apply it to ur bottom lash line as well.

STEP #4 : Blend

Using a blending brush or a fluffy eyeshadow brush, blend the darker color eyeshadow into the crease of ur eyes (follow ur brow bone if u dont have crease).

Also blend the darker color eyeshadow halfway inwards towards your inner eye. Why? This will help create seemless transition between the light and the darker color. Takde la nampak berbelang, beb. Baru la nampak ada two tones, tapi nampak senada.

STEP #5 : Shimmer color

Kalau uols ada pallete eyeshadow senang. Amik kaler yg paling terang - shimmer white/cream colored eyeshadow and apply to ur brow bone - bahagian yg paling atas between kelopak mata and eyebrow tuh. Tapi jgn biar camtuh jer. Nanti nampak berbelang. Again, blend the white/cream eyeshadow downward to ur crease. Why? This will help create a transition between the white/cream and the base/darker color tadi. Baru nampak cantik.

STEP #6 : Eyeliner

Yang ni paling penting. Apply dark eyeliner, preferably black eyeliner, to top lash line, bottom lash line and waterline. Baru la mata tu nampak besar and 'smokey'. Kalau uols nak tebal skit, apply tebal skit kat top lash line. Masa makeup kelas tuh, Eisya Rahman tak guna liquid or pencil eyeliner yg biasa kita guna tuh. Tapi she used KAJAL eyeliner. Celak org india. Kalau nak beli tuh mmg kena beli kat kedai india. RedBerry pun berminat nak beli ni. Tapi takde chance lagi nak pegi usha. Effect dia lagi cantik! Kalau nak buat arabic makeup or indian makeup mmg elok pakai Kajal eyeliner nih. Heard that Body Shop ada jual. Tak sure. Nanti try cari kat sana la. 

STEP #7 : Curl ur lashes

Before nak apply mascara, it's advisable that u curl ur lashes first using eyelash curler. RedBerry suka yg Bobbi Brown punye curler. Pernah try masa test makeup dulu. Tak sakit and senang nak curl ur eyelashes. RedBerry lum beli, coz RedBerry still ada yg lama. Membazir lak nak beli yang baru.

STEP #8 : Mascara

Bulu mata skang dah ada shape melentik kan? Good! For those yg bulu mata dah lentik tuh, i envy u! :P Takyah susah2 nak curl dah. Naturally cantik dah. Cuma skang apply mascara to ur top and skit kat bottom lashes. Cara nak apply mascara lak, uols jgn la main tarik atas jer. Uols kena letak brush mascara tuh ke dalam bulu mata atas tuh, tekan skit and slow2 gerakkan secara zig zag naik ke atas. Baru la bulu mata tuh naik and kembang elok jer. :) Dun forget to define ur eyebrows too!

Now dah habis the 8 STEPS! Nampak senang kan? Kita try dulu. Kala berjaya, yeaayyy!!! Kalau tak menjadi sgt, kita try lagi. Dun give up!

TIPS

TIPS #1 - Remember: the key to obtain smokey eyes effect is all abt proper BLENDING of light base with dark eyeshadow shades.

TIPS #2 - Remember: when applying strong, dark makeup on the eyes - dont apply strong makeup on ur lips. Focus on just one of the two. NOT BOTH. Or else nanti nampak heavy sgt. Tak cun.

For my dearest mummy

Today, Friday hujan lebat sesgt. Nasib baik Mr RedBerry amik kat opis. Takyah nak berjalan pegi LRT, turun naik escalator kejar ERL. *grin* Thanks, sayang. So alang2 dah sampai KL tuh, Mr RedBerry ajak pegi dinner itu restaurant pak arab lah. Nama nye kalau tidak silap namanya ALI BABA Kebab's Iranian restaurant at Jalan Ampang lah. Nasib baik hujan manja2, tidak lebat. Makan pun sodap jer lepak kat situ.

Food kat sana tak best sgt. Sedap lagi restaurant pak arab yg satu lagi tu. Sorry RedBerry lupa nama. Tapi area Jalan Ampang tuh jugak. Maybe coz ni Iranian food kot. Last time try Iranian food kat cyberjaya. Yg tuh pun tidak sodap. Sodap lagi SABA' kat cyberjaya jugak tuh. Anyway, we all order nasi beriani + ayam goreng (dun ask me apa nama dia) and roti (again dun ask me the name of the menu). Sempat amik gambar roti jer, sebab biler nasi sampai, trus ngap! Camera? Sorry, beb... tolak ke tepi. hehehe.

Lepas habis makan, lepak kejap. Kami terus balik. Tapi on the way balik tuh, teringat pulak pasal my mum. Mmg dah niat lama nak beli pressie for her. Her birthday is coming - 27th Nov 2010. Yg ke brapa? RAHSIA .. kehkehkehe... (rasa nak lempang RedBerry tak?) :O

So ni kira birthday pressie from Mr and Mrs RedBerry for mummy tercinta lah. Birthday + Anniversary (on hari raya haji) + Hari raya + New year. Boleh tak sekali gus? :P Dah lama niat nak beli hadiah ni. Kesian, sebab tgk kat umah my mum bende ni dah buruk. So here it is... jeng jeng jeng!!!!

Ok tak uols? Takleh nak beli besar sgt, coz dapur my mum tuh ada cabinet yg rendah. I think fridge ni pun ngam2 masuk bawah cabinet nih. Hopefully takde problem! Mula2 nak buat kezutan antarabangsa la. Tapi tak sampai hati. Kang nanti sampai lori depan umah, mau my mum terkezut terus taknak bukak pintu.. kehkehkeh.
